“Escher Passed Thru” was submitted by Susan. She used alternating rows of Blocks 1-2-2-1 and 1-1-1-1 (there’s no rule that says you can only use ONE block per pattern). It is a 7-shape tessellation.
I like this pattern because of the “wovenness” of it. Take the dark brown shapes, for example, and follow them with your eyes. Do you see what I’m talking about? They go in and out of sight, as though woven into the other shapes.
What colors would you use for this tessellation? Click on the blank pattern below for a printable copy, pull out your colors of choice, and get creative!

Very artistic. But I always thought of Escher in terms of wierd buildings. I read your instructions and found it very explanitory. Maybe I can do it too.
